Climbing Mount Kinangop | The Second Highest Peak in the Aberdare Ranges | Kenya.
Maximum Elevation – 3,906m.asl Elevation Gain – 1,263m Hiking Distance – 28km (14 each way) This is my very first hike for 2025. Mt Kinangop is the second-highest peak in the Aberdares. Not all mountain summits can be climbed and Mount Kinangop is one of them. I managed to successfully scale its peak and tick it off my list. My one way trekking to the summit was done in 4h20mins. I will definitely come back to set a better record. I personally did not find this trail as challenging as Elephant Hill but climbing the rocky summit can be tricky and technical. However, we all experience the mountains differently. Going through the bamboo zone and moorland was like a walk in the park. Nothing dramatic. Once you’ve reached the summit, the 360-degree view at the top is worth the hassle getting there.
